Mohammed Surti

Class of 2019
Specialist in Accounting

Hi, I'm Mohammed!

I am a 3rd-year student specializing in Public Accounting. Although I was born in India and grew up in Mumbai, I have settled in Toronto since the start of high school. The diversity of Toronto and the various places to explore within the city has allowed me to broaden my horizons and learn more about various cultures in a way that I never thought was possible.

Throughout my three years, I have been involved extensively in both the Rotman Commerce and general University of Toronto community. Currently, I am a Director of Events and have served as an Events Committee Member in the past for the Rotman Commerce Accounting Society. Beyond Rotman, I was a member of the University College Literary and Athletic Society’s Finance Commission in my 2nd year and the Woodsworth College Students’ Association’s Off-Campus Committee and Gala Committee in my 1st year. These experiences have helped me meet a lot of amazing individuals and learn more about the University of Toronto.

Professionally, I plan to pursue a career in the accounting industry and obtain my CPA designation, and I will be interning at Ernst & Young in 2018. In my 2nd year, I had the opportunity to represent University of Toronto at Ernst & Young’s EY Challenge, and our team came first nationally. Rotman Commerce has also provided me with the opportunity to participate in EY’s Emerging Leaders Program and KPMG’s Executive Look Conference, both of which have provided me with a deeper understanding of the business landscape today.

Whenever I am free, I enjoy playing sports, including soccer and basketball, biking, and exploring new places within the city.

Looking forward to seeing you on campus!
