We know that while U of T can't be beat in terms of the sheer number of opportunities available to you, it can sometimes feel pretty big. At Rotman Commerce, you'll find a close-knit community of students like you - students who are passionate about business and innovation, and who have a wide range of other social, cultural, and professional interests that intersect with the business world in dynamic ways. From Day One, you'll find lots of ways to find your home at RC.

Rotman commerce Orientation

In addition to your college orientation, we plan exclusive Rotman Commerce orientation events for our incoming class. Meet your new classmates, connect with upper-year students, find out about our student organizations, learn the ins and outs of academic life, find out about upcoming RC House events (see below for more info on our houses!), and get to know other Rotman Commerce students and staff. Orientation will take place in early September - you'll receive information from us about how to register over the summer, so keep your eye on your inbox!

The House system was paramount to strengthening my leadership and communication skills, meeting new friends, and successfully transitioning into Rotman Commerce.

The RC Houses

Even though we only represent a small portion of the University of Toronto's population, Rotman Commerce as a whole is a large and diverse community. We’ve created smaller families within Rotman Commerce for you to call home during your time with us - the RC Houses. Our houses, named for the streets which lead to campus, organize social activities throughout the year to make sure you get a little play time in the midst of your studies, help you connect with your fellow classmates, and rile up a little friendly competition. Accept your offer to Rotman Commerce and find out whether you’re in Bedford, Devonshire, Galbraith, Harbord, or Madison House!

First-Year Learning Communities

Making the jump from high school to university is exciting and sometimes a little overwhelming. To make it all a little easier, many students choose to participate in our First-Year Learning Communities, or FLCs for short (pronounced “flicks”). Each FLC has between 25-30 members, and provides first-year students with the opportunity to meet classmates, develop friendships, form study groups, and develop academic and personal skills that will help students adjust to university life. FLCs also introduce students to the resources, opportunities, culture, and benefit of the campus and its surrounding community - all in a laid-back, student-led atmosphere. Our FLCs are run by upper-year peer mentors - third and fourth year Rotman Commerce students who have been in your shoes and know what it's like to be in first year. And to help you make friends in your classes, we try to ensure that your FLC-mates are enrolled in the same required first-year sections with you so you'll always know people who can support you in your studies!

Intramural Sports

If athletics are an important part of feeling at home for you, consider joining one of our intramural sports teams! We currently have teams in basketball, volleyball, soccer, and ultimate frisbee that are always looking for new members. And if we don't have a team in the sport that you're interested in, you can still play as a free agent! Sports are a great way to make new friends and blow off some of the stress of studying. For a full list of intramural sports at U of T, check out the U of T Intramurals page.
